The Top Three Winners of the 2012 Contest are:

	1st prize The Disappearing Hand Trick Roger Newport, Helen Gilpin and Catherine Preston (University of Nottingham, UK)
	2nd prize When Pretty Girls Turn Ugly: The Flashed Face Distortion Effect Jason Tangen, Sean Murphy and Matthew Thompson (The University of Queensland, Australia)
	3rd prize Color Wagon Wheel Arthur Shapiro, William Kistler, and Alex Rose-Henig (American University, USA)

The Best illusion of the Year Contest is a celebration of the ingenuity and creativity of the world’s premier illusion research community. Contestants from all around the world submitted novel illusions (unpublished, or published no earlier than 2011), and an international panel of judges rated them and narrowed them to the TOP TEN. At the Contest Gala in the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts, the top ten illusionists presented their creations and the attendees of the event voted to pick the TOP THREE WINNERS!

Please note that the Best Illusion of the Year Contest is an Official Satellite of the VSS meeting: submitting illusions to the Contest does not preclude you from abstract submission to the VSS meeting, or vice versa.
